Sakai Village is a project of 141 homes built on the 33 acre farm that has been in the Sakai family since 1918.

Our concept for the identity had three main goals to accomplish. To honor the Japanese heritage of the Sakai family, to have a sense of nature, and to offer an artistic feel.

We decided to use a caligraphy brush style that was reminiscent of artful Japanese lettering. A cedar sprig was added to the lettering, as a portrayal of the rural nature of the setting and its significant wetlands preserve.

One of our favorite illustrators, Jane Shasky worked with us on this project, which cultivated in a beautiful and romantic identity that's a wonderful match for the surroundings.
